Introduction

This certificate is an industry specific award for trainers wanting to qualify using exercise and fitness assessment practice as evidence for their training and development award. It is accepted by the sector’s awarding bodies to train and develop on VRQ Exercise & Fitness Awards and includes the CYQ Preparing To Teach In The Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).

What Is The Course About?

  • How to design, deliver, assess and evaluate a structured programme of learning
  • How to plan, teach and evaluate relevant and effective learning sessions where candidate interest and motivation are maintained
  • The principles of education, training, assessment and evaluation applied to the active leisure sector
  • How to use a variety of teaching skills and learning resources to accommodate different learner needs and styles

  • Four days theory

  • Individuals 18 and over
  • Those wishing to pursue a career in training and development, ‘training the trainers’ within the active leisure sector

What Qualifications Are Needed?

  • A minimum of three years industry experience
  • A current qualification in the particular subject area that you wish to teach

  • Design
  • Delivery and management of learning in the active leisure sector
  • Assessment and evaluation in the active leisure sector

How Is It Assessed?

  • Five worksheets
  • Six short essays/assignments
  • Direct observation of practical teaching, to include planning, teaching and evaluating
  • Portfolio, to include planning, marketing and resource information for an accredited qualification
  • Personal learning journal
