Certificate in Internally Verifying in the Active Leisure Sector

INTRODUCTION

This certificate is an industry-specific award for internal verifiers who want to qualify using exercise and fitness assessment practice as their evidence for their internal verification award. It is accepted by the sector’s awarding bodies to internally verify on RVQ Exercise and Fitness Awards.

WHAT IS THE COURSE ABOUT?

On this course you will learn the role of the internal verifier and the roles and responsibilities of the respective bodies involved in the development of qualifications. Throughout the course you will develop your assessment skills and the principles of assessment, how to feed back to your assessors and action plan, and the process of standardisation within the assessment process.

WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?

Individuals over 18 who wish to pursue a career in internal verifying and quality assurance within the active leisure sector.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE NEEDED?

Candidates must have a minimum of three years’ industry experience. They must also hold a relevant assessing qualification (A1 or D32/33 or certificate in assessing in the active leisure sector) and a certificate in education.

WHAT WILL BE STUDIED?

You will study towards two units:

  • How to support and guide assessors in the active leisure sector
  • How to contribute to quality assurance procedures in the active leisure sector

  • Internally assessed sampling plan
  • Internally assessed internal verification report
  • Internally assessed standardisation exercise
  • Internally assessed worksheet
  • Internally assessed observation of internal verification (includes planning, teaching and evaluating)
  • Internally assessed portfolio
