Introduction

This course gives you the best of both worlds – a classical Pilates qualification combined with the latest research. It has been developed by a physiotherapist and experienced Pilates coach, resulting in a comprehensive qualification covering the original 34 mat based exercises plus functional and three dimensional training approaches.

What Is The Course About?

  • Application and adaptation of the original 34 exercises to plan and deliver sessions suitable for a wide selection of clients and/or classes
  • The fundamentals and the expertise on how to deliver an effective session that keeps your clients coming back for more

How Long Does It Last?

Who Is The Course Suitable For?

  • Individuals 16 years or over
  • Those wishing to pursue a career in teaching Pilates both to individuals and in group sessions
  • Individuals already running sessions but lacking a formal qualification

What Qualifications Are Needed?

  • Level 2 Mandatory Units – Functional Anatomy For Fitness (on-line option available)
  • Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology For Exercise – Advanced Human Motion & Functional Anatomy (AHM) (on-line option available) and Movement Analysis & Functional Biomechanics (MAFB)
  • A minimum of six weeks attendance at a mat based Pilates class

What Will Be Studied?

  • The original 34 Mat Pilates exercises
  • How to plan, teach, evaluate and progress a Pilates session
  • Evolving Pilates into functional exercise
  • Professional teaching skills, observation and correction techniques
  • The use of small equipment to focus or challenge your clients

How Is It Assessed?

  • Multiple-choice theory exam(s)
  • Case study and progressive programme
  • Worksheets and teaching log
  • On-Course teaching of a Pilates group session plus post-course DVD submission of a one to one session

Are There Any Books Or Special Equipment That Need To Be Purchased?

  • No, all course materials will be provided

What Can The Qualification Lead To?

  • The ability to teach Pilates both group and one to one with improved knowledge and skills, and with an internationally recognised qualification
