CYQ Diploma In Teaching Pilates – Level 2 to Level 3 Conversion

Introduction

Up-Skill from Level 2 to Level 3 Pilates. This course is ideal to take you from your current Level 2 qualification to the full Level 3 and gain recognition on REPs.
We build on your current Pilates skills and guide you through the assessments needed to achieve the now mandatory level 3 qualification.
This conversion route is only suitable if you have practical teaching expereince and understanding of classical mat exercises. If in doubt call one of our student support officers for more details.

What Is The Course About?

  • Update on functional and three dimensional training approaches
  • Gain ideas for the use of small Pilates equipment
  • Learn how to programme for common postural conditions

How Long Does It Last?

  • Pre-reading and completion of worksheets
  • Two days practical including your practical group assessment
  • Post course study and programming with a private client

Who Is The Course Suitable For?

  • Individuals 16 years or over
  • Those wishing to pursue a career in teaching Pilates both to individuals and in group sessions
  • Individuals already running sessions but lacking a formal qualification

What Qualifications Are Needed?

  • Level 2 Mandatory Units – Functional Anatomy For Fitness (on-line option available)
  • Level 2 Mat Based Pilates
  • Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology For Exercise – Advanced Human Motion & Functional Anatomy (on-line option available) and Movement Analysis & Functional Biomechanics
  • A minimum of six weeks attendance at a mat based Pilates class

What Will Be Studied?

  • How to progress a Pilates session
  • Evolving Pilates into 3D and functional exercise
  • Professional teaching skills, observation and correction techniques
  • The use of small equipment

How Is It Assessed?

  • Multiple-choice theory exam(s)
  • Case study and progressive programme
  • Worksheets and teaching log
  • On Course direct observation teaching of a practical Group Pilates session plus submission of a DVD of a one to one session

  • No, all course materials will be provided
