What Is The Module About?
- Advanced resistance and cardiovascular training techniques
- Utilising different methods of training across periodised programmes for health, exercise and sport specific outcomes
- How to drive programmes to change muscle metabolism whether the goal is weight management, lactate threshold training or muscle development

- Three days theory and practical
Who Is The Module Suitable For?
- Individuals 16 years and over
- Those working as fitness instructors or wishing to train to become a personal trainer
- Advanced instructors in exercise referral and personal training
What Qualifications Are Needed?
- Level 2 Certificate In Fitness Instructing – Gym-Based Exercise or Exercise To Music (other similar qualifications may be recognised)
What Will Be Studied?
- Exercise prescription and needs analysis
- Advanced exercise analysis and advanced programme design
- Systems of training and adaptations
- Advanced resistance training techniques
- Functional and core stability training
- Anatomical, hypertrophy, strength and power phased training
- Results based training for weight management programmes
- Cardiovascular training to include lactate and anaerobic threshold training, weight management programmes and endurance training
- Cardiovascular training for metabolic, peripheral and power adaptations
How Is It Assessed?
- Direct observation of two CV and four resistance training systems
- 12 week periodised programme
- Viva
