- How to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity

Who Is The Course Suitable For?
- Individuals 16 years and over
- Those wishing to work in fitness
What Qualifications Are Needed?
- There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification, however awareness of using a gym or participating in group or water-based exercise classes or equivalent is advisable
What Will Be Studied?
- Anatomy and physiology including:
- Heart and circulatory system
- Respiratory system
- Structure and function of the skeleton
- Musculoskeletal system
- Posture and core stability
- Nervous and energy systems, and their relation to exercise
- How to maintain health, safety and welfare in a variety of fitness environments, including the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
- How to programme safe and effective exercise for a range of clients
- How to communicate with clients effectively and motivate them to adhere to an exercise programme
- Health benefits of physical activity
- Importance of healthy eating
How Is It Assessed?
- Multiple-choice theory exams
Are There Any Books Or Special Equipment That Need To Be Purchased?
- No, all course materials will be provided
What Can The Qualification Lead To?
- Work as a group exercise or gym instructor
- Further training in pre-choreographed programmes such as Zumba, pump and fx
- An en-route qualification to becoming a personal trainer
