WHAT IS THE COURSE ABOUT?

The course aims to provide instructors with the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to plan and teach safe, fun and effective classes that inspire and motivate children to participate regularly in fitness activities. The course also looks at a range of class structures, using the already successful material from FitClub’s very own “Amazing World of FitClubTM” and Teen Fitness modules.

  • 2 days plus practical and assessment.

WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?

Anyone who is over 16 and looking to run health related fitness sessions for children and those already running sessions without a formal qualification.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE NEEDED?

None

WHAT WILL BE STUDIED?

The course looks at anatomical and physiological changes that take place in children and looks at how to adapt exercise for children at different growth stages. Delegates will also gain an insight into child psychology, motivation and nutrition. The three days’ contact time will focus on the practical skills, activities and ideas for each age group - 5-11 and 11-14.

HOW IS IT ASSESSED?

Theory Paper (to be sat on module), practical assessment, case study and progressive programme planning.

ARE THERE ANY BOOKS OR SPECIAL EQUIPMENT THAT THE STUDENT NEEDS TO PURCHASE?

All course materials will be supplied. Access to a video camera for practical assessment preferable.

WHAT CAN THE QUALIFICATION LEAD TO?

Employment teaching exercise to children in schools, clubs or any Ofsted-approved environment.
